Patriot Sprint Tour Loses to Mother Nature, Two Shows Now Scheduled for September 18 at Penn Can

By Paul Harkenrider (Susquehanna, Pa) | In what has been an unideal season for the A-Verdi Storage Containers Patriot Sprint Tour, more bad luck was presented to the tour Friday night they made its first return to Penn Can in 13 years.

28 cars were signed in with drivers from New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. 2019 Patriot Series Champion, Davie Franek won the first heat followed by PST Newcomer, Dave Axton. 3 time series champ and all-time winningest driver on the tour, Chuck Hebing would score the third heat win.

Then rolling out was Bonnell’s Rod Shop Dash for Cash where it was won by PST Rookie of the year contender, Dallas Schott. During Schott’s Dash interview, rain began to fall which would delay the B-Main that was scheduled up next.

As rain continued to hit the speedway for the next hour, the track management at Penn Can was left with no choice but to cancel the rest of the evening.

With an agreement between the Patriot Sprint Tour and Penn Can, the B-Main and A-Main events will be made up on September 18. A completely new show will also take place this night at Penn Can.

These will likely be the final events of the 2020 season for the Patriot Sprint Tour. With fans still not allowed at racetracks in New York thanks to the policies set by Governor Andrew Cuomo (D), it is not possible to hold a PST event.

If another event is scheduled, please be sure to check patriotsprinttour.com and our Social Media pages for continued updates.
