Weekend Preview: Jared Zimbardi looks to continue his winning ways at Ohsweken, Bryan Howland looking to get back in to Victory lane at Woodhull this weekend

By Paul T. Harkenrider (Sodus, NY) | The A-Verdi Storage Containers and Mike Emhoff Motorsports Patriot Sprint Tour will continue its busy trip through the month of June with races at the Ohsweken Speedway on Friday, June 10 and Woodhull Raceway on Saturday June 11.

This Fridays show at Ohsweken Speedway will be the only full points show towards the PST- Canadian Tour. Show up points will be awarded to the drivers who participate in the $12,000 to win Canadian Sprint Car Nationals on September 16 & 17.

Jason Barney leads the Canadian Points Standings after one race when he won back on April 23 at the Merrittville Speedway. Jared Zimbardi sits in second followed by Mitch Brown, Steve Poirier, and Cory Turner.

Jared Zimbardi has won the previous two full point events at the ‘Big O’ but will have a stout field to compete against like the weekly regulars of Brown, Turner, and Dain Naida.

The series will then re-enter the United States and head to the Woodhull Raceway for an event that was originally scheduled from May 14. This will be the first of two full point events the Steuben County Facility will host for the Patriot Sprint Tour- American Series.

Justin Barger won the most recent event dating back from July 25, 2015. Bryan Howland won the other event earlier that year back in May. Other notable winners who have won at “New York States Toughest Bull Ring” is Chuck Hebing, Dan Shetler, and Bobby Breen.

Jared Zimbardi leads the American Point Standings through five races over Dane Lorenc, Paul Habeck, Pete Richardson and Dave Just.

About Ohsweken (2011 Chiefswood Road, Ohsweken, Ontario)

Built in 1996, Ohsweken Speedway is 3/8 Mile Clay Oval track under the ownership of the Styres Family. Racing from May to September, Ohsweken is the only track in the Ontario Province that races 360 Sprint Cars weekly on Friday nights. They also run weekly Crate Sprint Cars, Thunder Stocks, Mini Stocks and Bombers. Ohsweken Speedway also plays host to the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals every September that pays $12,000 to the winner. Pit Gates will be opening up at 3:00, Grandstand Gates will be opening up at 6:00, with racing set to start at 7:30. Grandstand tickets this Friday will be $14.00. Pit Admission will be $20.00 for members and $35.00 for non-members.

About Woodhull Raceway (County Route 102, Woodhull, NY)

Built in 1964, Woodhull Raceway is 1/3 Mile Extremely High Banked Paper Clip Oval and is currently under the ownership of Ted and Brandi White. They race weekly on Saturday nights from April to late September. The Patriot Sprint Tour is the only 360 Sprint Car Series that the Woodhull Raceway plays host to each year. Racing weekly are 370 Small Block Modified’s, 602 Crate Sportsman, 360 Late Models, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks and Front Wheel Drives.

Pit Gates will open up at 3:30, Grandstand gates will open up at 4:30, with racing beginning at 6:30. It is $18.00 to get into the grandstands and $35.00 to get into the pits.

Located in Bolivar, New York, ESE is the proud title sponsor of the PST Dash Program once this season. The Dash program is for the drivers who finish in positions 9-14 in the passing points system during qualifying heats. The winner of each four lap Dash will also pick up an additional $100.00 and will be in a season long point fund.
