Scott Kreutter returns to victory lane for the first time since 2013 at Outlaw Speedway

By Paul Harkenrider (Dundee, NY) | Scott Kreutter put on a clinic at the Outlaw Speedway Friday night leading all 25 laps and picking up his first Patriot Sprint Tour A main victory since 2013 over Coleman Gulick and Steve Collins.

Kreutter would start on the outside pole with Gulick, who was piloting the Parker Evans No. 61 as the two ignited the 20-car field.

They would head into the opening set of corners at even pace with a slight advantage belonging to Kreutter as Steve Collins would be battling Joe Trenca for the third spot. Robbie Stillwaggon started seventh and would contest for a top five with Paulie Colagiovanni.

The first five laps were done at a minute forty, when the first caution flew as Derrick Juliano lost power at the top of turn four on lap five. The next restart would still find Kreutter grabbing the early lead as Paulie Colagiovanni would contest for third with Collins and Trenca, but as he entered turns three and four, he hit an implement tire and as he attempted to pull into the infield, he would collect eighth place running Jordan Thomas.

Kreutter would meet lap traffic on lap ten, but it did not trouble him as he sailed by cars left and right. The battle for second would continue as Steve Collins would get a great bottom run on Gulick at the half way point but would hit the one bump on the race track and would lose a lot of ground.

No more cautions occurred the last 20 laps going green to checkered and it was the 2012 series champion picking up the win over Gulick, Collins, Stillwaggon and Jonathan Preston.

Three heat races took place and were won by Kreutter, Trenca, and Stillwaggon. The Evingham Site Excavation dash was scored by Jordan Thomas, his second of 2017.

Jared Zimbardi would start on the pole in his heat but would get involved in an early caution and would settle for fifth. He would then go into the Evingham Site Excavation Dash finish fourth starting 13th in the A Main. Zimbardi would make an early push to the front in the event but would not get any higher than eighth. Joe Trenca was fast in his heat and start fourth in the A but would fall back to seventh. Kyle Drum would finish fourth in his heat also qualifying for the ESE Dash, he would come home ninth in the A Main after tenth. Darryl Ruggles would also find himself in the dash and he would not pass any cars during the A finishing 11th earning him the Shuttleworth’s Seal Coating 11th place finish. David Just would have a rough go of things during his heat starting tail for the A Main. He would make his way up to 12th taking the Casey’s Truck Salvage ‘Salvage of the Night.’ Tyler Graves would earn the Prestige Pool & Spa Final Finisher award.

The series now heads south to Pennsylvania for the 14th Annual Joe Whitcomb Memorial at the Selinsgrove Speedway. It is $2,271 to win with time trials setting the qualifying format.
