Patriot Sprint Tour Memorial Day Weekend Preview

By Paul T. Harkenrider (Sodus, NY) | The Patriot Sprint Tour is set to head East to two of New York States most historic race tracks. Drivers from all over New York State, Ontario, and Quebec will be in action for this Memorial Day Weekend.

Albany-Saratoga Speedway:

This will be the second time the Patriot Sprint Tour will be ever visiting “The Great Race Place” and its first visit since May 8, 2009 where Jason Barney picked up the win. This will also be your only chance you will see the Patriot Sprint Tour at the Speedway in 2016.

About Albany-Saratoga:

Located in Malta, New York on US Route 9, the 4/10th Mile dirt oval races weekly on Friday night that hosts big name Modified drivers including Brett Hearn, Stewart Friesen, and Kenny Tremont. The track also races DIRTcar Sportsman, Pro Stocks, and Four Cylinders.

The track has been serving race fans in the Capital Region since 1965. Camping and parking is always free.

Admission for this Friday is only $14.00. Kids ages 11 and under will be $2.00. Pit admission will be $20.00 for members and $25.00 for non-members. Pit Gates open at 4:00. Grandstand Gates open at 5:00, racing begins at 7:00.

Fonda Speedway:

This will be the first ever trip the Patriot Sprint Tour will be heading to the historic Fonda Speedway but it will not be its only visit to the “Track of Champions” in 2016. The series will return for another full points challenge on Saturday, August 13 and then again on Saturday, September 24 as part of the “Kramer Williamson Memorial” paying $3,073 to the winner.

About Fonda:

Under first year promoter, Pete Demitraszek, the Montgomery County Fairgrounds have had a rich racing tradition for over half a decade. Located just off Exit 28 on the NYS Thruway onto Route 30A, the half mile speedway races weekly on Saturday nights throughout the entire summer where they host Big Block Modified’s, Sportsman, and Pro Stocks.

General Admission Tickets for this weekend are $16.00, Seniors Citizens are $14.00, children 12 and under are $2.00. In Celebration of Memorial Day this weekend, all Military Veterans will be admitted free with proper I.D.

The Fonda Speedway Museum will be opening up at 3:00, Pit Gates will be opening up at 4:30, Grandstand Gates will be opening up at 5:00 and racing will begin at 7:30.

A-Verdi Storage Containers & M.E.M. American Tour

Steve Poirier, from St. Mathieu de Beloeil, QC heads into this weekend leading the PST-American Tour Point Standings with 150 points after winning at the Canandaigua Motorsports Park back on May 7. Bryan Howland enters this weekend second with 145 Points followed by Jason Barney (141), Jared Zimbardi (138), and Dane Lorenc (135) completing the top five.
