By Paul T. Harkenrider (Sodus, NY) | May 23, 2016- The Patriot Sprint Tour will visit the eastern side of New York State this Memorial Day weekend as the A-Verdi Storage Containers & M.E.M. American Tour rolls into the Albany Saratoga Speedway in Malta, NY and the Fonda Speedway in Fultonville, NY on May 27 & 28.
This is the first time the series returns to the ‘Great Race Place’ since May of 2009, where Jason Barney scored the victory.
The Fonda Speedway has never hosted a Patriot Sprint Tour sanctioned event at the historic half mile, but with new management under Pete Demitraszek, this will be the first of three visits the series makes to the track of champions this season. The series is also on the race card Saturday August 13, and Saturday, September 24.
Steve Poirier, of St. Mathieu de Beloeil, QC, is the current point leader in the American Series standings after picking up the win at the Canandaigua Motorsports Park earlier this month on May 7. The series has not raced since due to conflicts with Mother Nature.
Other drivers expecting to be in attendance this weekend are Jason Barney, Jared Zimbardi, Pete Richardson and Paulie Colagiovanni.
Grandstand gates at Albany Saratoga Speedway will open at 5:00 with racing starting at 7:00. General admission is $14.00. Also racing on Friday are Big Block and Small Block Modifieds, Sportsman, Limited Sportsman and Street Stocks.
Grandstand gates at the Fonda Speedway will open at 5:30 with racing at 7:30. In celebration of Memorial Day weekend, all Military Veterans will be admitted into the grandstands free. Also on the racing card that night will be Modifieds, Sportsman, Pro Stocks, Street Stocks and Rookie Sportsman.
Both shows this weekend will be presented by A-Verdi Storage Containers of Savannah, NY.
