19th Annual Earl Halaquist Memorial Slated for June 25; Lap Sponsorships Available

By Curtis Berleue | The 19th Annual Earl Halaquist Memorial is just a few short months away and is shaping up to be one of the best yet! On Saturday June 25, the Patriot Sprint Tour will once again sanction the event held at the Fonda Speedway in Fonda, NY.

The Earl Halaquist Memorial is held in honor of one of the most accomplished sprint car drivers in the Northeast, Earl Halaquist. Competing across NY, NJ, PA, VA, NC, MD VT, Canada and more, Halaquist ammassed 53 URC wins and six championships.

Halaquist, a World War II veteran, was inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Knoxville, IA in 2000 before his passing in 2001.

Former Executive Director of the National Sprint Car HoF and fellow inductee Thomas Schmeh is once again spearheading a lap sponsorship program. Laps are $20 a piece and 100% of the money collected goes directly to each lap leader.

If you would like to sponsor one of the 30 laps available, please email him at iowabasedtraveler@yahoo.com or private message him on Facebook.

The event will once again pay $3,000 to win. Gates are slated to open at 4pm on Saturday June 25 with hot laps at 6pm and racing at 7pm. As the event gets closer, more details will be released by both the Patriot Sprint Tour and the Fonda Speedway.
