Patriot Sprint Season Finale at Brockville Knocked Out by Weather
Rich Vleck, BROCKVILLE, Ont. (October 15, 2011)- Mother Nature reared her ugly head again. For the 11th time in ’11, a Patriot Sprint Tour-sanctioned event was rained out.
The Riverside Bar and Grill King of the St. Lawrence Series Championship event at Brockville Ontario Speedway as part of the Northeast Fall Nationals was canceled on Saturday after a midday deluge forced the all of the Saturday action to be postponed. The only potential option for a makeup was early Sunday Morning, which was a logistical impossibility for too many teams, not to mention the speedway, who had a hefty card already slated for Sunday. Thus the decision was made to completely cancel the sprint car portion of the weekend and try it again next October.
For the teams that were already in the pits at Brockville on Saturday, you can send back your wristband to Brockville Ontario Speedway, PO Box 455; Maitland, Ontario; K0E 1P0 for a refund. Please include information of what team you are with, as well as a self-addressed and stamped envelope.
With the cancelation, Jared Zimbardi has been crowned the Riverside Bar and Grill King of the St. Lawrence Series Champion for the second year in a row. The 2011 PST Champion will now collect three regional series championships at the year-end banquet, slated for November 12 at the Wildwood Country Club in Rush, NY.
