Patriot Sprint Tour Ready to Rock on Friday

Rich Vleck, ROCHESTER, NY (July 6, 2011)- The Patriot Sprint Tour has sanctioned events at the Black Rock Speedway more than any other track, but not since sprints were weekly in Dundee in 2004 has there been a July race to treat the fans to some mid-season fun.

The Patriot Sprint Tour (PST) will join the Empire Super Sprints this Friday for a showdown at the 4/10-mile Yates County Oval.  With two sanctioning bodies involved, a quality field will be guaranteed.

Jared Zimbardi, scored a PST-best fifth place finish in the first sprint race at BRS in May.  After a number of near-wins this past weekend, “The Juice” is looking for his second BRS win.

Don Adamczyk has taken command of second in the standings and continues to get closer to his first career win.  “The Williamsville Warrior” won the Original Pizza Logs Four Laps of Fame at BRS in May and has become a contender each time sprints are at “The Rock”.

Tim Kelly is among the local favorites that have circled this event.  The “Rock Stream Rocket” will look to rebound from a run of bad luck of late.

Scott Kreutter is the most recent winner on the Patriot Tour, scoring his second career win at Eriez on Sunday.  Kreutter’s first start in a sprint car came at Black Rock in 2007.

Bryan Howland finally broke through last August for his first career Black Rock win.  There is no doubt that the four-time PST Champion will be in the mix Friday Night.

Vern Wasson, Brad Knab and rookie Steve Collins are among the other drivers in the top-10 of PST points expected on Friday.  Also on hand should be Shayne Ely, Dave Wickham, George Suprick and Jeff Frasier.

Leading the ESS points headed into BRS is Shawn Donath, who surprisingly did not qualify for the May event.  With Chuck Hebing second in the standings and with full points on the line, you can be sure that Donath will bounce back strong this Friday.

The event will count towards the 2011 PST Championship, as well as the A-Verdi King of Upstate New York, with 50 points being awarded to any team that takes a green flag.  While the championship battle will not change this weekend, you can be sure that all the top PST competitors will be at Black Rock.

Weather permitting, Hot Wings TV will finally be able to tape an event in 2011 this Friday Night for airing in August on Time Warner Cable Sportsnet.

Patriot competitors can use their PST membership to enter the event and will be paid tow money accordingly.  Racing action kicks off at 6:45 p.m.  For more information, visit
