Patriot Sprint Tour Heads South to Clinton County and Woodhull this Weekend

Rich Vleck, ROCHESTER, NY, (July 16, 2012)- Big money is up for grabs this weekend for two major Patriot Sprint Tour events, but the pair of races will also go a long way in determining who will walk away with the even larger lump sum at the end of the year.

For the second time in series history, the Patriot Sprint Tour will head down to Clinton County for a Sprint Xpress Challenge on Friday before heading back north for a return to the Highbanks of the Woodhull Raceway.  410s and 305s will be eligible to compete in each event, but the focus will be on the PST competitors who will pocket $2,500 if they are able to win either event.

Bryan Howland was able to win the Sprint Xpress Challenge at Woodhull last season and heads into the weekend as the PST America Point Leader. The four-time series champion is also fresh off capturing his first win of the year last Sunday at the Cornwall Motor Speedway.

Tim Kelly has moved into second in the standings and has been running very well of late in his No. 12.  Kelly, along with Scott Kreutter, who is third in points, each run very well at Woodhull and could be candidates to become the 10th different winner in PST action this season.  Tommy Wickham is also squarely in the championship picture but will need to improve on his performance at Woodhull from May to continue the chase.

George Suprick is a former champion at Clinton County and a two-time winner at Woodhull and should be a favorite to become the first repeat PST winner of the season.  Suprick nearly won the Sprint Xpress event at Woodhull in 2010.

Jared Zimbardi is the current PST Canada point leader and the defending series champion but has struggled at both tracks in the past.  “The Juice” recognizes this is an important weekend in his effort to repeat as champion.

Other drivers expected on both nights this weekend include Steve Collins, Brandan Warner, leading rookie Steve Hutchinson Jr., Jared Fink, Erica Bell and former Clinton County regulars Clint Ide, Jamie Bodo and Tracy Potter.

A host of drivers plan on invading on Saturday at Woodhull, headlined by Chuck Hebing, a five-time winner at the 1/3-mile oval, including back in May.  Also expect to see Don Adamczyk, Charlie Donk, Todd Hoddick, Paul Habeck, Dave Wickham, Justin Barger, Jamie Collard and Mitch Brown among those in attendance.

Of course a major component of the weekend will be the invasion of former Sprint Xpress winners Alan Cole and Dan Shetler, plus former Clinton County regulars such as Daryl Stiemling, John Smith III, Colby Wormer, Scott Lutz and Jeff Taylor.
