American Champion will be Crowned, Claim $10,000 Check

Rich Vleck, ROCHESTER, NY, (June 1, 2012)- Mother Nature has been unkind to the Eriez Speedway lately when it has come to Patriot Sprint Tour events; no one can forecast if there will be any precipitation at the 1/3-mile oval in September, but the sound of thunder will be guaranteed.

After losing this past Sunday’s event to heavy storms, Eriez Speedway and Patriot Sprint Tour management have decided to make Sunday, September 2 the only sprint show of the year. This race will be pay $2,012 to win, seeing as it is the final American race of the year.  The ability to find a suitable date at any other point of the season was just not reasonable, so when the series returns to the Hammett, PA facility for the 11th time ever, there will be a check worth $10,000 that will be presented to the 2012 PST America Series Champion.

The America Series Championship is hotly-contested right now, with Bryan Howland holding a slim advantage over Scott Kreutter, Tommy Wickham and Tim Kelly.  A host of other regulars are also still in the hunt, headlined by defending PST Champion Jared Zimbardi, and including Steve Collins, George Suprick and Todd Hoddick.

The Labor Day Weekend event at Eriez will be precluded by a full-point event the night before at Mercer Raceway Park.  This Pennsylvania swing will allow most teams to hit a race on the way home, while still having the Monday Holiday to fall back on.  Mercer is also hosting the next PST-sanctioned race on the card on Saturday, June 16, with the Auto Racers for Kids Charities Event.
